Ceramic Dinnerware & Serveware (Bella Bianca, Bella Natale, Burano, Finezza, Foresta, Giuletta, Graffiata, Merletto, Medici) Our ceramic dinnerware and serveware collections are dishwasher safe on the low-heat, air-dry cycle, using non-abrasive detergents, do not overload the dishwasher.  We recommend hand washing oversized serving pieces. Since Bella Bianca and Bella Natale are stoneware they are oven safe.

All of our ceramic collections are microwavable.

Microwave Care

Because microwave temperatures vary, ceramic may get hot when warming food.  As a precaution, please wear a mitt when removing ceramic from the microwave and never allow children to remove ceramic without adult assistance.

Ceramic Serveware (Scavo) These serving pieces are hand wash only and because of the exposed rim are labeled not food safe.

Ceramic Bakeware (Bella Bianca, Burano, Medici, Natale, Scavo) Before first use, submerge the baker and lid (if applicable) in water for 12 hours. Always place baker in cold oven and allow it to heat gradually (max. 450˚). Always allow baker to heat and cool gradually - avoid any sudden temperature changes.

Decorative Ceramics (Medici, Natale) Many of our decorative ceramic pieces are finished with faux cracks, distressing, drips, color variations and/or fine lines in the glaze.  These qualities are intentional and desirable, as they reflect the genuine hand-made quality of the piece. Decorative garden containers should be brought indoors during freezing temperatures.  Liners are recommended. To clean, wipe with a damp cloth.

Glassware (Cero, Colored Glass, Natale Glass, Rosa Charger, Bowl & Liquor Tray, Sabrina) These glassware pieces are hand wash only. (Burano Glass) Dishwasher safe on the low-heat, air-dry cyle, using non-abrasive detergents.

Pewter (Anna, Donatello, Lucia, Peltro, Roma, Solid Pewter, Taverna, Tavola, Vintage Pewter) Pewter, the fourth most precious metal in existence, is comprised of mostly tin and small amounts antimony and copper to add strength and durability. Arte Italica pewter is made using 95% tin - the highest possible content and the highest possible quality.

Pewter does not tarnish like silver, and rarely requires polishing.  Pewter is a soft metal, and is susceptible to scratching. To remove scratches, simply buff gently with the finest grade "0000" steel wool.  Pewter should never be used in the oven or microwave. Pewter is dishwasher -safe on a low-heat setting. Please avoid abrasive or citrus-scented detergent.  As with any metal, prolonged exposure to citrus, vinegar and other acidic foods can harm the finish of pewter, so please wash your pewter immediately.

Pewter & Ceramic (Tuscan & Perlina) Our pewter and ceramic dishes may be washed in the dishwasher on a low-heat setting, using a mild detergent.  Abrasive or citrus-scented detergents should be avoided. This collection is not safe for oven, microwave or freezer use. When exposed to extreme temperatures, the pewter and ceramic may separate.  If this should happen, we recommend the use of a clear epoxy (Duco Cement) to repair the bond.

Pewter Flatware (Bella Bianca, Elena, Giglio, Isabella) Our pewter & stainless steel flatware collections are safe for the dishwasher.  We recommend a non-abrasive detergent without citrus or perfumes (as these will mar any metals) and the low heat/energy dry cycle.

Gold Flatware (Orabella) Our Orabella flatware is made of 18/10 stainless steel and is dishwasher safe on the low-heat, air-dry cycle, using non-abrasive detergents.

Pewter & Glass (Anna, Animale, Cavallo, Donatello Glass Charger, Eleganza, Giorgio, Giovanna, Peltro, Milano, Roma, Taverna, Tavola, Tesoro, Verona, Valentina) All of our pewter & glass items are handmade of Italian pewter and either mouth-blown glass or crystal.  Mouth-blown glass can be irregular in shape and may contain small bubbles and imperfections, which is expected. The pewter and glass are fused together with a special clamping machine and/or industrial epoxy. All pewter & glass items should be washed by hand  use the Pewter/Ceramic section for additional care) using non-abrasive, non-citrus detergent. These items should not be used in the oven, microwave, or freezer. Our pewter & glass drinkware collections should not be submerged in warm water to soak but should be washed individually and dried. Please contact our Customer Care Center for more information about our glass replacement program.

Silver and Gold-gilded Items (Vetro Gold, Semplice, Baroque Gold) Our gilded pieces should never be placed in the dishwasher, oven or microwave.  Because of the delicate nature of handmade glass, we recommend not pouring boiling water into items or placing them in the freezer.  With the exception of Semplice Dinnerware (dinner, salad & small bowl) which are safe for the dishwasher, all other glass items are hand wash with a non-abrasive detergent to ensure the beauty of the piece.  We recommend the use of a soft jewelry cloth to buff any tarnish that occurs naturally on our silver-gilded pieces.
